The contemporary Ivalo dome is mouth-blown by skilled glassblowers. The rim of the dome is melted with a flame to achieve a rounded soft rim. A hole is cut and polished in the top through which a hand-knotted leather toggle is tied. The natural ash is sourced from sustainably managed European forests and certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.
